Institution / About MIRLA

INDEPENDENCE IS
THE FOUNDATION.

MIRLA was created for the uncomfortable space between official assurance and lived reality—where allegations are serious, institutions are defensive and evidence needs an independent home.

We are not anti-state. We are anti-impunity.

01

Who we are

The Mauritius Institute for Rule of Law & Accountability is an independent initiative dedicated to lawful public power, institutional transparency and human dignity. We combine investigative discipline with strategic advocacy.

02

Our principles

MIRLA applies the same standard to every actor.

  • Independence from political and institutional pressure
  • Evidence before publicity
  • Fairness and the presumption of innocence
  • Protection of vulnerable sources
  • Accuracy, correction and responsible language
  • Accountability without fear or favour
03

Why MIRLA

Oversight fails when complaints disappear into the institution being complained about. MIRLA provides distance, structure and persistence. The work is sober by design: facts first, pressure where justified, and no theatre where evidence is required.

AUTHORITY MUST
ANSWER TO EVIDENCE.
